Featured: Ride PA BMX “End Of The Year” Q&A

As the year comes to a close we wanted to get some perspective on how 2011 went in the words of some of our friends. We sent around a questionnaire consisting of five questions, some kept their responses short and sweet while others got a little more in depth. Check out the questions as well as all twenty set of answers after the jump.

1) What was the highlight of the year for you?

2) Did you travel to ride in 2011, if so where?

3) Favorite video, part, or web-edit from 2011?

4) What was the worst part of this passed year?

5) What are you looking forward to in 2012?

Eric Capone (Stranger BMX, Infamy BMX, Stink Pit)

1) Well it’s been a rough year. But I’m proud of getting to finish Stink Pit video with Dan and continuing to do local videos. Plus I got bumped up with Stranger from Grassroots.

2) I haven’t traveled this year been local all year went to Baltimore once haha. But been filming a bunch for a Stranger edit since the end of the SP video.

3) Favorite video is Stink Pit, part of the year ha I would say Jason Enns Demolition was a favorite but scerbo can I Eat? forever!

4) Worse part was I had rough year at home and school but I’m still kicking.

5) I look forward to traveling and finishing up school. Riding and keep filming.

Knick Smith (Atown Trash)

1) Finally finishing the Atowntrash dvd, it was a long process to wrap it up hoping the next one isn’t as much of a process.

2) Atlanta last winter and going up to Boston to chill with homies Jake and Abdul is always a good time.

3) That’s a hard one I dont have a computer or a smart phone so I’m left in the dust with web videos, it’s either between Butchers “Cuts” part or Ed’ss new Skavenger part.

4) Banning Four Lokos, taking the real loko out of it.

5) Hoping to travel more and meet new peoples and have a fun time.

Fernando Cano (Local)

1) Just having a good time with all my homies and riding bikes.

2) Didn’t really go anywhere far this year, just Jersey and Maryland.

3) The bakery special recipe: Premium Products because Chad Kerley kills it.

4) Loosing some good homies but in the end its always for the better.

5) Enjoying life, riding bikes, and hopefully not the end of the world haha.

Mike Cesario (The Yea)

1) The highlight of my year was throwing extra pegs on and graduating high school those were two things I never woulda thought would happen.

2) I traveled to Boston with the Coatesville crew and it was a good time.

3) Favorite edit was the Chase Dehart Etnies and the FiendxCinema edit.

4) Worst part of the year was all the problems I had with my bike randomly always breaking and I would be broke and couldn’t fix it.

5) I’m just looking for another fun year with the homies and the other half. Shout out to Mike Purcell for hittin’ me wit it. Matt Loughead, Miles Vendetti, and Bobby Kaczynski for always driving my broke ass around to ride. Matt Smith, Van and errybody at 2×4, my mother for buying me a new chain and that ganja goodness. ++

Matt Smith (The Yea)

1) Learning Smith 180′s, turning 25.

2) Lititz and York Skateparks. My cousins skate so we would head up there and nib.

3) Way too many good ones right now. I bet that Skavenger video will be the best thing in a minute.

4) Rolling my ankle.

5) Getting a car again for the first time in over 5 years. Filming with McLovin and Loughead along with the rest of the crew. Hopefully putting the 2nd Mixtape out!

Matt Loughead (The Yea, Two by Four flow)

1) Putting two more pegs on and learning things opposite.

2) Boston, MA trip Summer 2011 was the big one.

3) Too many to remember but the most recent web edit that sticks out in my mind is Corey Martinez’s Etnes Welcome Video, fuckin’ nuts. I was also real psyched on ALYK’s “Still Here”, Ryan Howard’s part in particular.

4) Summer being hot as fuck and me being broke.

5) Riding as much as possible. Richmond, VA trip in January. Matt Smith cranking stuff out at www.theyea.com

Cody Neiswender, McLovin’ (The Yea)

1) Basically the best part of the year was just riding around everyday with my best friends having mad fun filming little edits and stuff and just having a good time in general.

2) I traveled to Philly three or four times a month (it takes like two hours to get there from my house) and to Harrisburg and York area mostly, nothing really far away. The farthest away I went to ride was Baltimore back in the summer, I’d like to get there again lots of dope spots.

3) The best video hands down in my opinion was the Fiend promo. Everyone killed it riding wise and it all flowed really well and the song was killer, pretty much perfect video.

4) The worst thing about the year for myself really had nothing to do with riding. I really never have a day on my bike that I’m not having fun and if it happens it’s usually some other bullshit going on in life that’s on my mind. I guess if I had to pick something though it would have to be getting hurt because it always sucks to get hurt and not be able to ride for weeks or months at a time.

5) I’m really looking forward to finishing The Yea video and getting that out there, other than that I’m just looking forward to more good ass times with my friends riding around.

Matty Miller (Kinks Bikes, Chocolate Truck)

1) The highlight of the year was probably moving into my new house in Philly. My old house was falling apart and now I live with the rest of the CT homies. We’ve only been here for like 4 months and it has easily been the best time in my life. It’s awesome to always have people to ride with and we don’t even have cable yet cause there’s so much other shit to do. Also getting hooked up with KINK has been unreal. Those dudes are doing things right and my bikes perfect.

2) I really didn’t travel much with school and work and shit but I went out to Baltimore with some of the local dudes. Me, Kev and the real Nicky B just hung out down there and filmed some stuff for CT. Got to ride wit Krone, Histand, Ewip and Tim Coyne and it was a good trip.

3) All the sections in Cuts were good especially Ratkid, Belcher and Edwins stuff. I’m siked to see the new Skavenger video too. The Fiend Promo was crazy too and it was sick to see Kev and JJ’s footage.

4) Our house got robbed while we were out riding one night. They took three laptops, TV’s our wallets and some other stuff. I lost a bunch of footage for Chocolate Truck too. It puts things in perspective and it sucks that this part of Philly is so grimey. But you can’t really let one shitty experience ruin all the fun ass times.

5) I’m looking forward to finally finishing Chocolate Truck. The premiere is gonna be so sick for everyone involved. I’m just trying to stay motivated and keep riding and filming and travel to some places with all my friends.

John Yoh (Chocolate Truck)

1) Riding with the Chocolate Truck crew was probably the best part of it, and it took up about 90% of my time hahaha.

2) Not really just weekend trips to the city.

3) The Demolition video was tight and I liked Enarson’s part too, The fiend promo was real tight.

4) The worst part was probably messing up both my ankles, their both pieces of shit.

5) In 2012 I wanna start to travel with the homies… Go on at least one trip with everyone.

Nick Barrett (Chocolate Truck)

1) The highlights in my year were gettin’ clips I been wanting to film and riding with homies all over and siked on finding new spots I’ve never rode!

2) Yea, I went to Baltimore with Kev, Matt and the NEMY team when there was one. aha, it was mad fun to ride a new city and find spots.

3) The new Fiend edit was wild and everyone killed it. Props to Kev. for being on the team. Chris Brown edits and skate videos. Animal CUTS for sure.

4) Worst part of the year was loosing loved ones in my family. God bless my grandmother and step dad!

5) Looking forward to having a good ass time riding with my homies. Chocolate Truck for life baby I’m siked too have a video I can watch with all homies on it that we’ve been clipping for!

Brian Histand (Orchid Footwear)

1) Riding my bike.

2) California, Las Vegas, and Boston.

3) ???????

4) Tearing a tendon in my thumb = no riding for the whole summer and breaking my foot in Los Angeles.

5) Nice weather.

Dante Sadler (Ride PA BMX)

1) My highlight of the was probably gettin’ on with Ride PA.

2) Nah nowhere special except like Delaware that’s about it.

3) Man that’s hard um I’d have to go with Federals web-edit with Dan Lacey and Bruno Hoffman in Austin.

4) The worst part was that I didn’t get out and ride as much as I wanted to this passed year.

5) What I’m lookin’ forward to in 2012 is hopefully getting on the Federal flow team “hopefully” haha we’ll see.

Will Barr (Ride PA BMX, Synergy)

1) I don’t know, probably the B2SJ cause it was just a good day where a lot of people came out to support ridepabmx.com and just to have a good time with friends.

2) No. I wish I did but I think the farthest I went was like Whitehall Skatepark and that was fun but I wish I had gone out of state at least.

3) I really can’t say I see so many and I like so many none really jump out at me as a favorite.

4) Probably when I hurt my ankle over the summer it still hurts me today.

5) A lot, can’t wait to see if the world ends and can’t wait to see some more ppl going nuts on their bikes.

Wendell Murray, “BJ” (Synergy BMX)

1) Getting myself outta dept lol.

2) I traveled to Baltimore, Lancaster, and York not to far but had a great time with the guys.

3) Nathan Williams United part.

4) Loosing two of my closest friends.

5. Riding with Tyler this summer.

Adam Schnellenbach (The Mont, Dig BMX Mag)

1) Watching Joe Rich ride his backyard (T-1) and him telling me he dug my style. I felt like a 14 year old girl!

2) Austin Texas for 16 days with a bunch of Scottish dudes and Niki Croft, it was a blast! Actually moving there in January.

3) ANTHEM II, Sean Burns in Anthem II I could really care less about web videos and current BMX trends, but as for web content I’m all about the UK, and Tony Malouf always does a killer job with The Gully Factory edits.

4) Breaking my middle finger bone thru the skin after a wallride to faceplant was pretty gnar.

5) Texas life, Paul Rode’s section in Sean Burns new project. Shhhhh!

Nick Bott (JIB)

1) Highlights, any day spent with homies is a highlight. Oh and Corsa I’d say.

2) I didn’t get to travel as much as I would have liked. I was fortunate enough to trip to Miami in January. Other than that just the neighbors Jerz and Delaware.

3) I can’t remember all of 2011 video parts I’ve seen but I’d have to say the Fiend promo was sick since Kev was apart of it. Local edits are always awesome. The obvious bangers thrown in throughout.

4) Worst part of the year for me personally would have to had been knee surgery. Then Pat getting robbed in Camden at the first spot of the day. Other than that it’s been a good year.

5) 2012 just tryin’ to get out of PA more. Hopefully make my way around the country a little bit more. See some new things and make some new friends. Looking forward to whatever happens pretty much.

Mike Devlin (Local)

1) I would have to say just hanging with my friends, having a fun ass summer 2011 it was crazy mad shit went down and we filmed a lot.

2) I’d say I traveled a little bit I finally got up to Charm City Skatepark in Baltimore, Maryland for the day and I’ve been to places in Pennsylvania that I haven’t been to even though I live here and that was a blast I am always down to go to new places.

3) This is a very hard choice but I’d have to say my very favorite video part of the year would have to be Chase Dehart in Let ‘Em Talk, for my favorite videos would be Demolition Last Chance, FBM 1000 Yard stare, and Stink Pit 2.

4) The worst part of this past year would have to be still being in school because I don’t get the riding time that I want and also injuring my Wrist, arm, ankles, and SHINNERS HAHAHAHA.

5) In 2012 I am looking forward to having my license finally which means alot more riding, road trips, and filming. Also I and looking forward to meeting new people and trying to get out there more in the bmx world.

John Cahill (Local)

1) Riding new spots and getting out of Philly for a bit.

2) So far we went to Richmond, Raleigh, Baltimore, Bridgeport CT which sucks, New York, Pittsburg and now were in NC.

3) I only watch Jason Levy’s part everything else sucks.

4) All them faggots in tents at City Hall and people bitching and not riding.

5) More trips and more Delco.

Sean Brian Rosner (Mistaken Identity)

1) Spending time with family/friends and being able to ride a bunch.

2) Didn’t get to go much further then NYC and NJ this year… hopefully can travel a bit more in 2012.

3) Way too many good videos/web edits to list haha.

4) How quickly we have been loosing spots in Philadelphia.

5) Getting Mistaken Identity rolling smooth, traveling, riding and just chilling and having fun.

Ken Hensell (Groove Merchants, Cruxdivision)

1) Highlight would be getting out and taking trips to Washington DC with the homies, been awhile since we got down there.

2) DC ,VA, PA, MD, being in WV some of the trips weren’t more than a two hour drive.

3) So much good stuff this year, ALYK “Still Here”, Colony dvd, Skavenger vid that just dropped.

4) Worst part of the year was breaking my leg again in August and missing our annual Philly trip for the “Back To School Jam”. I was in the middle of filming for a Cruxdivision welcome edit and that ruined the rest of the year.

5) Looking forward to a healthy and productive year, hitting some road trips, filming for the Groove Merchants “Groove Life” dvd, and also some other big things in the works.
