Buck Milliken Interview & Edit

Buck Milliken is a guy we started to take notice of over this passed year. Buck has been behind the release of the Six Ten Mixtape series and is hard at work with the rest of the Dtown Productions crew filming for the Six Ten DVD.

Buck recently took the time to answer a dozen questions we sent to him and put together a minute and twenty second edit to include with the interview. Make sure you check out the edit then read the interview after the jump.

Don’t forget to follow Buck on Instagram @buckmilliken and on Twitter @awildBuck.

1) What is you name, age, and where are you from?
My real name is Andrew Milliken and I’m 18 years old from Downingtown, PA. “Buck” is a nickname I’ve had since I was real little.

2) When and how did you first become interested in riding BMX?
When I was a little punk Downingtown kid my freshman year of high school I saw a bunch of kids doing wall plants on this one tree. My one friend got a bike and we followed him. Been hooked ever since.

3) You’ve been filming for The Six Ten DVD along with the rest of the Dtown Productions crew, how has the filming process been so far?
Well, winter this year sucked. We filmed a few garbage clips before the massive amounts of snow came through but filming pretty much stopped until about a month ago. But ever since the weather made it’s way above freezing, we’ve been out every weekend with a big crew and getting stuff done. It’s been looking good so far though… no injuries yet.

4) Do you have a rough idea of when the video might be finished?
I laughed reading this question. I don’t want to rush anyone into filming clips they either aren’t ready for or just don’t want to film, simply for the sake of speeding up the videos release date. So I’ve let the guys have their comfort with the release date and all that noise but in my best judgement, I could see it done by the end of next summer.

5) Now that the weather has gotten warmer you’ve been spending some time on the road, where are some of the places you have traveled to recently?
Yeah we’ve been out every weekend getting everyone back into the groove of getting clips filmed and staying focused with what certain dudes want to get done. Lately we’ve made our way into Baltimore, North Jersey, Pottstown, Reading, Richmond, and of course Philadelphia.

6) Do you have any roadtrips or plans you are looking forward to this summer?
In June I’m having an old buddy of mine that I met last summer, Jordan Capece, over at my house to film and chill with the crew. He’s got a huge bag of tricks and is consistent with a vast majority of everything he does, which is why I love filming with him. We’re going to my buddy Anthony Roberto’s house in Richmond in June and then he is coming up to visit us at my place that following week, so June is looking pretty awesome. We’re heading into Pittsburgh sometime really soon because Shilo and Slade have family out there. Shilo and Loughead were talking to me about possibly doing a tour of Pennsylvania sometime in July. Those two know how to get trips done. Loughead surprises me with these amazing spots that nobody’s ever even heard of which is awesome because it keeps us guessing (even if they’re in the middle of nowhere). Besides all that, we’ll be in Philly a lot more this summer.

7) Aside from video you also do a lot of photo editing, do you find you prefer one over the other?
Definitely like the video side of everything a little more. I used to have an equal preference for video and photo back when I had my DSLR but I got an HMC40 recently and just felt more comfortable with filming. I’m lucky enough to have Loughead taking pictures now that I’ve pretty much gotten out of photo taking.

8) Where are some of your favorite spots to ride?
My favorite spot to ride is one that a bunch of my close friends have helped make in Coatesville. We call it the Coatesville spot and it’s been recently improved with a bunch new obstacles to keep us busy. It popped up on Merrit’s Instagram recently because we were showing Justin Care around the ville.

9) What do you think are some of the best and worst aspects of BMX?
Best aspect to me is just laughing and having a good time. I’d say the only bad thing for me is bringing all my camera stuff into these ratchet neighborhoods. Shilo makes fun of me for being sketched out about that haha.

10) Outside of BMX what takes up your time?
I go mountain biking every now and then with a few friends, just to keep the Dunkin Donuts under control haha.

11) Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
God knows haha.

12) Is there anyone you would like to thank, any last words?
Thanks to everyone at Grindlab for giving us a place to go after work/school on Friday nights during the winter. Matt Loughead for making sure I don’t film anything gay. Shilo and Slade Staniech for having a wonderful mother. Eeshond Kirk for never giving me gas money. And Justin Care for hooking us up and showing us around.
