Two epic jams, squeezed into 48 hours the weekend of October 9-10, 2021.  The trails were dialed and the S&M team was in town, it was bound to be a good time. Saturday, Catty Woods hosted their annual Halloween jam, complete with a costume contest and high air challenge on McRoast. The competition was steep, and Cory Foust walked away with the high air victory. Lou Delfino received the people’s award for “B.O.T.Y. (Bike of the Year)” Sunday was the start of a new Posh Woods jam, ‘Mosh at Posh’. The riders sessioned the Butcher jump with some of the best turndowns and tables I have ever seen! They were awarded ‘Best Table’- Tom Arkus, ‘Best Turndown’ – Eric Hennessy and ‘Raddest Rider’ – Clint Reynolds.  Thankful the weather held for such an epic jam! Thank you to the trail’s locals for putting in so much hard work!

Ride PA BMX – Issue Three: Posh Woods High Air Contest

Robert Burns famously wrote, “the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” More than two-hundred years later, these words are a life lesson that never stops proving to be true.

During the production of the third issue of the magazine, we overlooked two pages of content from the Posh Woods High Air Contest article by Tasha Lindemann. As a result, the final two pages of the article did not go to print and were not included in the magazine. After spending hours upon hours going over the pages and proofing the materials, we were gutted to learn of the mistake. Although there are not many options to rectify a print error, we figured it would be best to upload the spreads from the article in their entirety for everyone to enjoy and view as they were intended to be. We apologize for the error and will be putting more safeguards in place to prevent any future mishaps. With that said, you can view the spreads in high resolution after the jump. We hope you enjoy!

The woods of Catasauqua, PA were filled with changing leaves, witches, cowboys, and 20 inch bicycles for the weekend of October 20th, 2018. Pennsylvania’s summer rainstorms have wreaked havoc on many trail riding sessions. This weekend was the perfect opportunity to make up for lost time, laps were never-ending and many riders rode into dusk, holding on to any last bit of sunshine.

The 3rd annual ‘Schwantz Best Trick Contest’ was absolute mayhem, including Decades, Double Whips, a Big Daddy Bike Transfer and celebrity judging from Cory Nastazio. John Beutner of Indiana pulled the win with a 180 Lookback.

A new contest added to the Halloween Jam this year was ‘High Air on Boomers’ and the competition was fierce! Mere inches separated competitors; Cody Diggs, Clint Reynolds and John Beutner, but in the end Cody Diggs pulled off the win.

The Halloween Jam was successful because of the dedicated locals and the incredible sponsors. Thank you to S&M, Fit, Empire, TRA, Mutiny Bikes, Action Wheels Bike Shop, and Block Bikes! To learn more about upcoming jams or ways you can help Catty and Posh, check out pawoods.com.

The 2nd Annual Women’s Weekend in the Woods took place September 22 and 23rd in the woods of Pennsylvania. A simple idea that came together during the cold Northeast winter months last year has proven to be a success yet again. With the support of our jam sponsor T1 and all of the companies that sponsor the trails including S&M, Fit, and Empire BMX, we were able to give women a weekend to come ride trails knowing the woods would be full of other girls. With more women coming out to ride the trails this year than last, it was an awesome weekend where riders of all ages and skill levels could come together to enjoy riding bikes & roasting jumps.

Women’s Weekend in the Woods is a low-key, low-pressure event where girls can come and ride Catty and Posh Woods, two legendary trails spots within driving distance of one another. There are no contests, no clinics, no rules. Just come hang out in the woods and get stoked on trails. Women brought their families, their dogs, their infectious positive energy and for two days nothing mattered but BMX.

Friendships that were created last year grew stronger this year, as women from all over the world came to ride, many of which were jumping higher and going faster than they had last year. There were also women there who had never ridden BMX before but wanted to try it & Women’s Weekend in the Woods provides that safe and supportive environment to send it for the very first time. I am forever grateful for the women’s BMX community and the locals who came together to make this event happen as well as everyone who supports Catty and Posh all year round. See ya in the woods!
